In the Wandering Earth film, there is an argument that when the Earth can no longer meet the survival needs of human beings, should human beings take the Earth with them to find a suitable place to live, or upload the entire human brain into the digital system to become digital beings. The final choice in the film is to take the Earth and wander.
Of course, in real life, we have not yet faced the problem of survival on earth. If there is a chance to copy the human brain and forge everyone’s consciousness into digital life in digital space, would you choose to become a digital life?
Maybe it’s a good idea for the terminally ill, but if everyone has to have a digital life backup, what defines human civilisation? How do we define human beings and how do we build human societies in a digital world where everything is built on artificial intelligence?
