I travelled to Albania, again. As I revisited my trip through the lens of Google Maps. The video-essay is an investigation into what remains of authenticity in travel experiences, within our globalized and digitized society. Simultaneously, it prompts reflection on our motivations for seeking such experiences.
I love the format of the video you chose. It feels very ironic at first when you read a text about authenticity at the same time being exposed to a Google Earth walk. Then when you admit that you’re part of the problem the video got a different overtone. This contrast makes the video powerful. The montage is also great, I like how the images overlap. Also, it was interesting for me to watch because I have travelled around Balkan countries this summer, so I could relate to your experience.
