Who is Thessa and what did she do? In this podcast, I will tell you about a social occurrence that happened eleven years ago. Below this paragraph is the related news during the event. Unfortunately, I am not a professional podcaster and this is my first time doing it. My best production so far! 😀 I hope you enjoy it.

I am not from Germany, but do remember a year later there was a ‘Project X’ in Haren (Groningen). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_X_Haren
The government did not know how to handle the situation, but honestly how can you even control a large crowd of youth (underaged at times) under influence of alcohol and group pressure? Sadly many crimes had happened. I remember stories of scared parents worrying for the safety of their kids. I remember the story of a group of people jumping in someone’s backyard – but left when they couldn’t get into the house. I would be so scared! I was still underage in 2012 and lived in the south of Holland, so did not party or cause any ruckus.
This happening instantly reminds me of the ‘Project X’ party in The Netherlands too. However, another rather organized instance of large-group-chaos against police and government enforcement happened during the ‘Kroningsoproer’ when squatters protested during Princess Beatrix’s coronation. During the root, a jammer, placed on the protesters’ base called ‘de Keizer’, disrupted the signal of the police that ordered troops to de-escalate. Yet, the squatters wanted to fuel the conflict to display the government’s cruelty against ‘brave protesters’, fighting for the basic human right of housing. Their attempts were quite successful, chaos was spread all across the city which enabled them to squat many buildings.
I believe these historical events share underlying anarchistic and protesting motives. Sort of similar to the hippy culture and anti-culture culture that governed Silicon Valley. Suddenly, when previously unorganized groups realize the power they hold against governmental enforcement through the clever use of technology and digital media, the police are outgrown by the chaos that develops.
In this amazing Dutch podcast ‘Alle Geschiedenis Ooit’, they discussed the Kroningsoproer in further detail: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4CyBG0k0wE2uCtG83EAiEe?si=dfc75950921946e0.
