Very interesting but also fun video essay! I enjoyed watching it, you managed to give off the same energy as some of my favorite video essayists. My sister uses Tumblr to this day and it is mostly for looking at content regarding some of her favorite shows like Better Call Saul. I do believe that Tumblr will have the same longevity as some other contemporary social medias. Like you pointed out, the rejection of new features by current users shuns out any new users from joining. Even if it doesn’t last as long as other platforms, I believe in sentimental value as being a very important thing. So may Tumblr live long in the halls of our souls, even when it has returned to dust.
As someone who still uses Tumblr as well who was not part of the 2010s group who used it, what I find so nice is the dashboard and the lack of for you pushed in my face. When Instagram replaced it’s chronoligcal feed with one which only allows 3 days and includes a bunch of other posts, I lost any minor interest that I previously had in Instagram. Not having other people and posts pushed into my feed make tumblr so much nicer.
