old computer wizard program

When I was younger my parents were very strict with screen time: for the longest time we were not allowed to play games or use the computer to watch videos. We only had one shared computer in the house, which my parents primarily used for work and emails. This family computer was strictly off-limits for me and my siblings, which was not that much of a problem: at this time I spend most of my time outside, drawing or watching movies.

BUT at some point my parents showed us a program on the computer: it was a game of sorts, with an old wizard character wearing a pointy blue hat who allowed you to play games and paint things digitally. We were allowed to play this computer wizard program for ten minutes a day, and this is my earliest memory of a form of digital media in my life. I vividly remember that especially my little sister was obsessed with this game and I would often watch as she played. But besides the general description I just provided, my memory of this program is very very hazy. I barely can make out what the wizard looked like, not to mention what you could do in the game, as if from a half-forgotten dream. I had not thought of this wizard game for many years, until the cue in this class for our blog post to recall our earliest memory of digital media in our lives.

In my journey to find out what this game was, I searched the following on Google:

old computer wizard program

This search led me to many people online with the same hazy memory of a wizard game, desperately trying to find out what the name was. Turns out there are MANY old computer wizard programs.

One of the wizards games I had found was MATH WIZARD, a game starring a wizard with a magic cauldron, from which smoke with math exercises would arise. It had a very strong visual aesthetic to it, but was not the game I played when I was young.

I also found multiple reddit threads of people looking for their wizard game ( https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmyjoystick/comments/ri1zq0/pc_earlymid_90s_educational_game_with_a_wizard/ ), ( https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmyjoystick/comments/18ndtny/windowsearly_2000s_old_wizard_computer_game/ ) filled with comments mentioning all kinds of different games, such as TREASURE MOUNTAIN (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8libUShcrE&t=8s), MIND CASTLE The Spell of the Word Wizard, Flying Colors and Abracadabra! (see images below). All of those were NOT my old computer wizard program.

At some point I stumbled unto a game titled RM Colour Magic, which looked a lot like the hazy image of the wizard I remembered. This game would allow you to paint digitally, in a similar manner as MS Paint. Another I game I found which also looked very familiar was Softkey Early Education CD ROM Power Pack, an educational wizard game with counting and spelling games. One of those two could be my wizard program, but I was not sure which one it was, or if it was neither of them. This search will not end now. I will continue to search and look into these games until I can say for sure which wizard game is MY old computer wizard program.
