In my video essay I explore how films and social media are challenging traditional notions of femininity by portraying characters who express unconventional emotions like anger and vengeance. These narratives offer solace to real-life women by providing alternative representations of female identity. My video also touches on the importance of expressing these emotions and how they can be a driving force for personal or societal progress.
Here is the link to it, hopefully it works properly. Enjoy! <3

I really liked your video essay! Thank you for bringing up this topic! I had seen the TikTok video before and felt sad because society often treats people differently based on gender. It reminds me of the quote from Barbie in this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBqlDWHkdHk.
Women are expected to follow implicit rules to maintain a rigid image of femininity. That’s why I’m so glad to see creators highlighting the diverse emotions of women, rather than reducing them to being “emotional.”
I’ve noticed in films that female rage is often romanticised through the male gaze! Gone Girl is a really good case study for challenging this narrative. However, as you pointed out, there’s still a long way to go in terms of representation. Overall, very well made video essay!
