Episode 8: Parasimp
This the eighth episode of our podcast titled ‘Digital Discussions’, in which we discuss topics about the digital, humanities, and digital humanities. As the host of this episode, Cosima brings up the now well-discussed topic of parasocial relationships. We discuss our own favourite parasocial relationships, their possible harmful or helpful aspects and how it should be defined in these times of changing technology and social interactions. We talk about things such as streaming, e-thoths, music fans, ‘influencers’, LGBT representation, toxicity, economic vs personal disputes, “revolutionized Lutherian processess” and ‘safe spaces’ to top it all off in this hour long episode. In these episodes, we’re going to rotate the role of host that introduces a topic and a discussion around it with the help of an academic article, news article, or something else relevant.
